About the Founder

Charles F. Engel

Founder

Mr. Engel began his aviation insurance career in 1959 when he joined C.E. Heath and Co. Ltd, a Lloyd’s brokerage firm, as a Junior Aviation Insurance Broker. Following a 14-year tenure at C.E. Heath where he became the Senior Director under the Chairman and Managing Director and a short period overseas, Mr. Engel returned to the United Kingdom to become the Managing Director of the aviation division of Robert Bradford, Hobbs Saville a Lloyd’s broker.

In 1982 Mr. Engel came to the United States to pursue his insurance brokerage career as Executive Vice President to the predecessor of Houston Casualty Company and worked there until 1984 when he formed his own regional aviation brokerage firm. This firm was subsequently acquired by Aon Corporation where he worked for 17 years. Mr. Engel left his position as Vice Chairman and member of Aon’s Aviation Executive Committee in 2001 to become Chairman & CEO of Heath Lambert Aviation (North America) which was acquired by Jardine Lloyd Thompson LLC in February 2004. Charles Engel stepped down as Chairman and CEO of JLT Aerospace NA on his retirement effective January 1st, 2017.

Mr. Engel has been exclusively involved with aviation insurance throughout his whole career where he has handled large, international airline accounts and managed underwriting, as well as retail and reinsurance broking entities

The Team

Charles V. Koehler

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Koehler began his aviation career in 1988 when he joined the US Air Force. He spent 10 years with the US Air Force before joining the PA Air National Guard. After many deployments in support of various operations throughout his military career, he retired from the military in 2011.

Mr. Koehler began his aviation insurance career in 2000 as a General Aviation Underwriter with Associated Aviation Underwriters, after which he spent time as Vice President at both JP Morgan Chase Private Client Group and William Gallagher Associates serving as an aviation Insurance broker to the institution’s Private Clients. In 2009 Mr. Koehler joined XL Catlin as Assistant Vice President, where he underwrote the full spectrum of aviation risks, serving operations all over the world. During his time at XL he amassed the company’s largest general aviation portfolio. In June 2017 Mr. Koehler joined Mr. Engel at Wordlink Specialty, LLC as Chief Underwriting Officer.

Mr. Koehler received his Bachelors of Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is also an accomplished pilot holding various certificates and ratings.

Bill Tabbert

Chief Underwriting Officer

Mr. Tabbert began his Aviation Insurance career in 1983 as an Underwriter for U. S. Aviation Underwriters in Dallas, Texas. After six years of underwriting, Bill moved to the Aviation Insurance Brokerage side of the business. For the next 30 plus years Bill handled General Aviation accounts along with managerial operations for the brokerages he worked with.

In November 2019, Bill joined Worldlink Specialty as Chief Underwriting Officer.

Bill began his pilot’s license training when he was 15 years old which directed him onto his Aviation Career path. He went on and received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Aviation Administration, and Aeronautical Studies from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Bill received his MBA from Amber University.

Victoria Di Pietro

Vice President

Victoria began her Aviation Insurance career at Global Aerospace in 2005, garnering a general knowledge of the industry through Administrative duties over the next 6 years. In 2011, she moved to XL Specialty Insurance (now XL Catlin) continuing to learn and assist in the Underwriting process. She developed her skills at XL Catlin for almost 7 years before joining Worldlink Specialty, LLC in 2017.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and many relationships to Worldlink, having spent 13 years in this niche industry in a variety of capacities, and under the guidance of some of the best mentors the industry has to offer.
