The Team

John A. Songin

President & Chief Underwriting Officer

A seasoned insurance leader, John began with Worldlink in Q3 2023 to oversee all aspects of the MGU’s operations. He joined from Ascot Group, where he was Vice President of Partnership Engagement for the Central U.S. In this senior market-facing role, he was responsible for client relationship management, new business development, and external branding efforts for the Group in the region.

Prior to joining Ascot in 2021, John spent nearly a decade with Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, most recently on the Sales & Distribution team leading executive level, strategic relationship management of targeted brokers in the United States and Canada. John was previously a Senior Underwriter Specialist in the Aviation and Agriculture sectors, with increasing responsibility. John began his career at Chartis Aerospace Insurance Services as an Aviation underwriter.

John received a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Saint Louis University and is an FAA-licensed Commercial Pilot with Multi-Engine and Instrument ratings. He is a member of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s Midwest chapter Associate Board and is part of the planning committee for their 2023 “Inclusion in Insurance Global Forum.” In his free time, John enjoys competitive swimming, sailing, enjoying Chicago’s impeccable food scene, and is an avid Buffalo sports fan.

Joshua Grundt

Senior Vice President, Head of Underwriting

With over 15 years of aviation insurance experience, Josh joined the Worldlink team in Q2 2024 as Senior Vice President – Head of Underwriting to help grow and manage the underwriting operations within the firm. Prior to joining Worldlink, Josh served as Vice President – Branch Manager for the Dallas office at USAIG where he lead a team of underwriters and oversaw one of the company’s largest books of General Aviation business. His experience includes working with large commercial operations for both fixed and rotorwing aircraft as well large corporate flight departments, FBO’s and products manufacturers.

Prior to joining USAIG, Josh was an aviation underwriter for AIG Aerospace for 8 years, where he began his aviation insurance career. While at AIG, he progressed from an underwriter to eventually a Zonal Manager overseeing both the Dallas and Atlanta branch underwriters within General Aviation.

Josh has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Texas at Dallas. While in college, he was an air safety intern for the National Transportation Safety Board where he acquired experience in aviation accident investigations. He is an FAA Private Pilot with Instrument rating as well as A&P Mechanic. He also holds a Certified Aviation Insurance Professional designation (CAIP) from the Aviation Insurance Association (AIA).

In his free time, Josh enjoys cooking, running, flying, and spending time with his wife and two daughters
